Robert L. Hoover, 88, of Cabot, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to parents Lee and Juanita Hoover on April 26, 1933. Robert served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War as an Artillery Corporal. He went on to work for the Olin Corporation for 17 years and an additional 28 years for Maybelline as a Shipping Supervisor.
Robert (PaPaw) was fun loving and always looking for a way to prank those he loved. He assigned almost everyone in his life a nickname. He enjoyed being with his family. He loved his wife deeply and was an amazing caregiver to her in the last stages of her life. He loved his kids and grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of the highlights of his life every year was the Hoover Christmas.
Robert was active in his community in many ways, spending many years coaching Little League baseball and softball. At the ages of 55 – 57 he rode 100 miles on a bicycle raising money for missions, finishing ahead of many half his age. He also ran the Pepsi Challenge several years – also in his 50’s. Robert loved to read, he has probably read every Louis L’amour book at least twice, watching westerns. He also loved camping at the Buffalo Rives and watching Razorback games, especially when they beat Texas.
Robert loved being in church with his family. He was a true worshipper, no matter the style of music. He was the Godliest man we know and a lover of the word of God. He lived every part of his life according to the principles in the word of God. He served as a Sunday School Teacher, Prayer Warrior and Deacon. Church, especially praying in the altars at church was his favorite place to be.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Juanita Hoover; beloved wife, Celestia Hoover and his sister, Doris Walker. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Robert L. Hoover, Jr. (Renee) of Cabot, Ronnie Hoover (Dana) of Springdale and Leann Rosenbaum (Cary) of Cabot; grandchildren Courtney Clements (Mack), Ryan Hoover (Amanda), Caleb Hoover (Tasha), Joshua Hoover (Marisa), Michael Hoover (Brittany), Kara Land (Matt), Elyssa Hoover, Sydney Hoover, Hayden Rosenbaum, Ethan Rosenbaum, Kailyn Rosenbaum and Colton Rosenbaum; brother, James Hoover.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, September 21st at The Ridge Assembly of God, 8013 Jacksonville-Cato Road, Sherwood (Gravel Ridge). The Funeral service will be at the church beginning at 1:00pm Wednesday, September 22nd. Burial immediately following at Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7224 Landers Rd., NLR, AR.
