June 2, 1930 – September 19, 2018
Roy Clay Brown was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. On September 19th, surrounded by family, Roy went to be with his Lord at the age of 88. He loved, protected, and treasured his family from his parents to his children to his great-grandchildren. He cared for friends and neighbors well; his godly wisdom, warmth, gentleness, and mischievous sense of humor will forever mark those who knew him.
Roy was born to Fred and Alma Brown on June 2, 1930 in Jackson County, Tennessee. He grew up on a farm with his older brother, Freed Kincaid, and younger sister, Marjorie Sue. He graduated high school from Jackson County Central High in 1948 and attended Tennessee Technical University. He married Frances Allen on August 3rd, 1951 in Angola, Indiana. Roy served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. On returning from service, Roy and Frances saw their family expand and moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1961, then later settling in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1968. Roy and Frances’ remarkable 67 year marriage remains a testament to their faith and love, and is a model for the family.
Roy was an entrepreneur, starting several businesses over the years, and was Founder and President of Capitol Blueprint & Supply Company in Little Rock, Arkansas, leading that business for 30 years. His faith was known and felt by all who knew him, and he served faithfully as an elder of the Church of Christ for over 45 years. He was a member of Central Church of Christ in Little Rock. He also loved flying his airplane and shuttling any and all wherever they needed to go.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Alma Brown, and brother Thomas Freed Kincaid. He is survived by his wife, Frances, children, Karen (Karlin) Treat, Tom (Becki) Brown, Don (Jill) Brown, Rosemary (Henry) Burch, David (Sandy) Brown, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, his sister Marjorie Sue Boswell and a host of extended family.
