Sharon Kay O’Neil of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 82. Sharon grew up in Perryton, Texas and graduated from West Texas State University before beginning her teaching career of over 30 years. She finished her career when she retired from McClellan High School here in Little Rock. Sharon is survived by her brother Fred Nies and wife Pati, nephews Todd Nies and wife Terri, Jonathan Nies and wife Rae, niece Rachel Lindemann, great nieces Amy Sluis and husband Simon, Amanda Nies, Paige Rome, great nephew Ryan Lindemann, and great grand niece Cece Sluis. Sharon was preceded in death by her father and mother Fred B Nies and Retha Nies. Sharon’s great passions included traveling the world, bringing knowledge and encouragement to her students, and especially the love of her dogs, the most recent being Cassie and Murphy. No funeral services are scheduled currently. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, AR, 72117. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the ASPCA.
