Sharoyn K. Sawyer, age 77, was blessed to have the Good Lord take her from this life on March 11, 2026. She suffered from Alzheimer’s and needed to be relieved from that burden. Even though we must say goodbye for now, we find comfort knowing she is at peace and reunited with her dear husband Edward.
Sharoyn left behind her daughter Kathleen Skrdlant (Jeff), her son Edward F. Sawyer, Jr. (Crystal), her grandchildren, Nicholas (Taylor), Wade (Mallorie), and Justin, and two great grandchildren Emma and Henry. She left behind a brother, Randall Smith (Cindy), brother-in-law Skip (Lynn), sister-in-law Patricia (Charles), and several beloved nieces and nephews. Of course, she is survived by her two precious cats, Poppy and Daisy, but she could never tell one from the other so her daughter renamed them Brownie and Flower. Brownie never left her side in her final days.
Sharoyn met the love of her life, Edward F. Sawyer, Sr. at the age of 14 and married him after high school. She went on to cosmetology school and would style hair for a short period. She also made a home here while her husband was in Vietnam and then they were stationed at Fort Knox, KY where they had their children. Once he was finished in the military, they came home, settled in Jacksonville where they raised their children and built the majority of their lives. They were married until he passed away in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Sue Smith, her father, William (Buddy) H. Smith, her brother William (Bill) H. Smith, Jr., her father-in-law, Raymond Sawyer, and mother in law, Betty Sawyer.
She loved to cook and share food with her family, and would do anything for anybody just to be helpful. She babysat many babies in her time and found great joy and honor in being a grandma. She loved to paint ceramics with her father and make Christmas candies and cookies once upon a time. Her brain fought with her so she was not able to do what she enjoyed out of fear or forgetfulness.
We are thankful for Hospice Home Care who treated her, specifically her nurse Hannah, her chaplain Tanji, her aide Nikki and her social worker, Cynthia. They were phenomenal.
Sharoyn’s visitation will be on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 10:00 am with her celebration of life to follow at 11:00 am at Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, AR 7211 with Pastor Travis Matthews officiating. In remembrance of Sharoyn’s life, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, a charitable donation be made to the Graves Memorial Baptist Church Sanctuary Building Fund, at 4617 Oak Grove Road, North Little Rock, AR 72118, (501) 851-1493.
