Virginia Ann Broadaway, 80, of Maumelle, found peace, healing and comfort from her battle with ovarian cancer, on Thursday, June 25, 2015. She was born November 8, 1934 in North Little Rock to Sidney and Gertrude Stockwell. Cherishing her memory is her husband of 62 years, Jake Broadaway and daughter Jan Stafford of Little Rock. She also leaves behind those who called her “Momma Jenny”, her grandchildren, Sarah Adams of Summer Shade, KY, Laura Murray of Sherwood, Mary Kathryn Stafford of Sherwood, Jessica Pope of Maumelle and Ben Broadaway of Fayetteville. She was loved by six great-grandchildren, Hayden, Jacob, and Lila Murray, and Kori, Mila, and Evelyn Pope. Virginia was blessed with daughter-in-law, Janet Broadaway and son-in-law, Tony Stafford. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Bradley Keith Broadaway. Virginia married her high school sweetheart, after graduating from North Little Rock High School in 1952. Those dear high school friendships inspired her to continue class reunions for 60 years. Virginia attended Draughn Business School and began work at General Contract Purchase Corporation. After the birth of her children, she became a stay at home mom until they were old enough to attend school. She then joined her husband in the family’s asphalt business, American Coating Company. In 1969, she joined Litton Medical Systems as their office manager and learned the essentials of the x-ray business. In 1983, she and three partners were given the opportunity to purchase the x-ray division of Litton and changed the name to Medical Imaging Associates. That company flourished and became the leading supplier of x-ray films and expendables in the region. Virginia served as National President of the Independent X-Ray Dealers Association. She retired in 1994 and began enjoying life on the river and golf course in Maumelle. During her retirement she also donated her time volunteering at the NLR Wetherington Boys Club. As a child she grew up across the street from the club becoming her second home. The Boys Club later honored her by inducting Virginia as the first woman into The Boys Club Hall of Fame. She also served on the board of the NLR Boys’ Club and was past president of the Wetherington Foundation. Of all her accomplishments, her family was what she was most proud of. The family would like to express their love and thanks to Dr. Brad Baltz and the staff at Hematology Oncology Associates of Arkansas as well as those at Hospice Home Care, who gave her comfort in her last days. Virginia requested memorials be made to Central Baptist, her church home of over 75 years, or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in honor of grandson, Ben. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Monday, June 29, 2015 at Central Baptist Church, 5200 Fairway Ave., NLR. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00. Interment will follow at Rest Hills. Following the services, Virginia’s wishes were for all her friends and family to gather back at the church for a time of fellowship and lunch. Please join us. Please leave the family your online condolences at Virginia’s online guestbook at www.griffinleggettresthills.com
