Wendell Pickens Chesshir, age 92, died Monday, October 6, 2025, at Fox Ridge Assisted Living in North Little Rock. He was born on January 15, 1933, in Center Point, Arkansas. He graduated from Nashville High School. Wendell was a retired conductor with Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of two railroad related groups NARVE and SMART. He was a member of Sylvan Hills church of Christ and a faithful servant of the Lord; his heart was in missions. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas “Tittle” Chesshir and Beatrice Wise Chesshir; one brother, Thomas Holt Chesshir and one sister, Lillian Faye Chesshir Preston.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mena Fleming Chesshir, and his daughter, Tamara Chesshir Tahat; sister-in-law, Shirley Hawkins Chesshir; former son-in-law, Ahmad Tahat; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, AR with Minister Greg Clark and Robert Brady, Retired Army Chaplain (LTC) officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Rest Hills Memorial Gardens in North Little Rock, AR. Pallbearers: Scott Teague, Ray Culvey, Mark Fonville, Jim Whitis, Frank Puryear, Braden Allman, Bob Acre, Ian Redmond and Mason Oglesby. Honorary Pallbearer: Milton Puryear.
Wendell was given great care by the staff at Fox Ridge, and he considered them family.
