William Holder

William “Bill” Riley Holder, 88, passed away peacefully with family by his side in Sherwood, Arkansas on September 21, 2020. Bill was the only son born to Turah and William R. Holder of Sweet Home, Arkansas. Bill graduated Central High School in 1950, then graduated from UALR in 1953 with an Associate Degree in Engineering. Bill was part of the 106 Army Band in 1949-1958. On June 22, 1958, became 2nd Lieutenant, became part of the 1st Military Academy Class in the State of Arkansas and on April 29, 1965, promoted to Captain. He attended Command Staff School, was in the Top 20% of his class and graduated in October of 1973. He earned his Master Electrician License, his Radio Telephone License and was a Relay Engineer at AP&L from January 1954-May 1995, as well as, the Union President of the Local 647 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Bill is survived by his wife, Patty Holder of Sherwood: his daughter, Toni Holder of Cabot, AR: his son, Keith Holder of Ft. Smith, AR; his grandchildren: Jason Ketcher & spouse, Sam Ketcher of Cabot, AR; Tara Gaspar of Broussard, LA; and Meghan Ashley Holder of St. Augustine, FL; and his great-grandchildren: Daniel Gaspar, Peyton Ketcher, Lane Ketcher, and Silas Ketcher. Visitation for Mr. Holder will be Thursday, September 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Chapel. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 25 at 9am also at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Chapel. He will be laid to rest in a private burial for immediate family held at AR State Veterans Cemetery.
