Wilma Dell Womack

Wilma Dell Ouzts Womack, 95, of Little Rock, passed away August 25, 2026. Born February 4, 1931, to Louis Sylvester Ouzts and Ruby Pierce Ouzts, she was the oldest of 9 children—8 girls and 1 boy. Her humble Rose City childhood taught her resourcefulness, gratitude, and the importance of family—all qualities that, with her faith, shaped the remarkable woman she became.

A 1948 North Little Rock High School graduate, Wilma loved baseball. A talented roller skater, she could skate backward and even dance on skates. She met Norman Douglas “Doug” Womack at Fair Park Roller Rink and married him December 29, 1950, building a life of faith, family, and service.

Wilma’s intelligence, courage, and devotion became especially evident after Doug was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease. In 1971, they trained 3 months at the Little Rock Veterans Administration Hospital for home dialysis. He was the program’s 1st patient trained to operate a home dialysis unit, and Wilma learned the entire process. For years, she faithfully cared for him through 7- to 8-hour treatments 3 times weekly while raising their 3 children.

Wilma later worked in the Arkansas Kidney Foundation office, helping with events and fundraisers and bringing compassion to affected families. She continued after its National Kidney Foundation affiliation.

Wilma and Doug’s Hillcrest home was the heart of their family—a place for holidays, meals, laughter, and memories. Wilma expressed love through everything she did. A talented seamstress, she made her children’s clothing. She enjoyed reading, cooking, flowers, traveling with her sisters, visiting Branson, Russell Stover chocolates, and caffeine-free Diet Coke. Her turkey and dressing and corn casserole became treasured family traditions.

Above all, Wilma loved her family. A devoted wife and mother, cherished Granny, and beloved GiGi, she attended her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s games and events. They always knew she was there—proudly cheering them on.

A devoted Christian, Wilma was a longtime member of Barrow Road Church of Christ, which later became Central Church of Christ. Her faith in God was the foundation of her life, and she worshipped faithfully as long as she was able.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Douglas “Doug” Womack; parents, Louis and Ruby Ouzts; daughter, Karen Henderson; daughter-in-law, Jane Womack; brother, Louis Ouzts, Jr.; and sisters, Louise Schoemaker, Ruby Bukowski, Billie Jean McCoig, and Janice Feathers.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Stringfellow (Tom); son, Steve Womack; grandchildren, Nicole Young (Zach), Hollye Jackson (Michael), Drew Stringfellow (Danielle), Hannah Blaylock (Taylor), and Sam Stringfellow (Astrid); great-grandchildren, Bladen, Jaxson, & Oliver Young, Liam & Lily Jackson, Cameron & Madisyn Blaylock, Everett Stringfellow, and one great-grandchild on the way, who will know GiGi through the love and stories shared by family. Also surviving are sisters Willie Mae James, Bessie Aunspaugh, and Sandy Davis; sister-in-law, Shirley Ouzts; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends blessed to have known her.

Wilma’s life was a testament to faith, devotion, and love in action. She cared for her husband with extraordinary dedication, nurtured her family with unwavering tenderness, and served others with compassion. Her influence lives on in the generations she guided and in the hearts of all who lovingly called her Mom, Granny, and GiGi.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, August 31, at Rest Hills Funeral Home in North Little Rock, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. John Phillips will officiate. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park, with Jerry Berry, a former minister of Barrow Road Church of Christ, officiating at the graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Tom Stringfellow, Kenny Henderson, Zach Young, Michael Jackson, Taylor Blaylock, Drew Stringfellow, Sam Stringfellow, and Bladen Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Jaxson Young and Liam Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be made in Wilma’s honor to the National Kidney Foundation of Arkansas.
