He was born January 30, 1936, in Clarendon, Arkansas, to Wylie W. Mavity, Sr. and Nellie Mavity. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, Sue Davis, Marie Rodman, Sybil Bruce, Ruby Ferguson, Connie Craig and Nancy Brown, and by two brothers, Mose Mavity and Danny Mavity.
Wylie was a dedicated family man.
He is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Carolyn Mavity; daughter, Barbara Robins Gwatney and husband Phillip of Sherwood; two grandsons, Phillip Robins of Jacksonville and Michael Robins of Sherwood; one granddaughter, Suzie Gwatney of Indianapolis, Indiana; one great-grandson, Dante Matteson of Indianapolis; one sister, Patricia Garrison (Winston) of Marvel, Arkansas; two brothers, Lucky Mavity and Don Mavity, both of Ward, Arkansas; and by a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and funeral service on Wednesday, October 17, at 2:00 p.m., both at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lonoke.
