we were so very saddened to hear about alan.
i think of the times that you and alan were in our presence - whether at a social engagement,  fundraising activity or just a casual moment at marcelle and andy’s. the two of you always had a way of enhancing the atmosphere in your subtle, kind way. you both have brought so much positive energy to our community in broward county in so many areas of life. you have made a difference in innumerable ways, all the while being magnanimous and unassuming, stylish and au corant, warm and welcoming.

Alan was the kindest, warmest most generous person with whom I had the privilege of knowing.   Every encounter with Alan evolved into a conversation about my children, particularly my youngest son who is on the autism spectrum.   My children loved Alan and Marsha.  One of my daughter's favorite video clips is Alan and Marsha dancing at the wedding of her friend.  They celebrated my children's accomplishments and were the first to call after a joyful event in their lives.  Alan never missed an opportunity to let me know he was in my corner whether professionally, in my capacity as a community volunteer or as a single mother.   Alan's passing is a reminder that when we think about a friend we need to let them know.  I wish I had let Alan know more often.  With our deepest condolences. My memories of our Federation mission to Israel with Alan and Marsha  in January 1984 are so clear. Alan was so humble, so genuine in his commitment to tikun olam. He and Marsha provided the motivation I needed to serve on the JCC and Federation boards. Always kind and forever giving of himself, Alan set an example for all who knew him. 

Marsha, I was so saddened to hear of Alan's passing. He was truly one of a kind - a gentleman, generous of spirit, his time and money, who worked tirelessly for his community.

We are so sad to learn that Alan passed away.   Rose and I send our most sincere sympathy  to the Levy family .  May  he rest in peace. 


Alan was a kind and generous leader. He was able to bring people with diverse interests together in support of noble causes. We are blessed to have known him. He will be missed but always remembered for what he did for others.

Heaven is brighter, but the world is a little dimmer with the loss of such a kind, caring, compassionate and generous man. Alan touched many more lives than can be counted, and planted seeds of hope and encouragement everywhere and anywhere. 
Heartfelt condolences to his family, and rest in peace, Alan. You have certainly earned it.

The world has lost a true leader with the passing of Alan.  I'll never forget our first encounter. It was at a School Board meeting when Alan & I were both there to speak in support of former Superintendent, Frank Till.  Apparently my words impressed Alan and the friendship blossomed from that day on.  I was about to run for Mayor and Alan became a great mentor to me.  He invited me to join him in working together in support of quality public education and good government.  His philanthropic support for the Jewish Community has made it possible for people of all ages to enjoy the multitude of services provided by the David Posnack JCC, Federation, & JAFCO.  He was also such an inspiration with his devotion to helping those children confronted with difficult life challenges through his involvement in organizations such as HANDY.  His business leadership has made a significant  impact on the Broward County economy.  Unquestionably from above, Alan will continue to carry the "torch" of leadership. He is an inspiration to all and it is incumbent upon all of us to continue with his legacy of making the world a better place.  With love & deepest gratitude for the valuable life lessons I learned from Alan. 

I am saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Levy. He was a larger than life figure in Broward County and extremely well regarded by all the civic leaders. He was generous with his time and met with me to understand my passion and advise me in how to utilize my energy to the highest use. I hope the family will take comfort in the legacy that he leaves.  

Lori, my dad Bob and I are heartbroken over the loss of Alan.  Having known you all for over 40 years I can only reminisce at the wonderful friendship we've shared over those many years.  It's hard to imagine a finer man and member of the Community.

Know we are thinking of you all and keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for sharing Alan with us all.

Our hearts are broken by hearing this news but we rejoice in knowing his distination.
