She was preceded in death by her parents William Falovitch and Freda Rosen, sister Ivy, her husband of 55 years, Morris Levis, and treasured companion, Sandy. She is survived by sons Victor and Larry, daughters-in-law Reesa and Elena, grandchildren Mitch, Hannah, Brooke, Emily, Alex, and Claire, and their spouses Ashley, Rob, Doria, and Alex, as well as great-grandchildren Cameron, Zoey, and Parker.
In addition to her needlework and interior design skills, Doreen was renowned in the kitchen, mastering Greek cuisine, as well as becoming proficient in its language and customs, as she threw herself with gusto into Montreal’s Greek expat community with her husband, an immigrant from that country. A born and raised Montrealer, as a teen Doreen was one-half of the singing Fallon Sisters and toured Quebec’s venues before marrying and raising her family. With her husband she also enjoyed an active social life, music, international travel, and cruising. Once her family was established she became a realtor associate in South Florida for more than a decade. Doreen loved to have fun while exercising her brain and was a crossword puzzle wiz and avid card-game player with an inscrutable poker-face. She bravely faced several health challenges throughout her adult life, proving to have nine lives as she persevered to a ripe, old age.
Never the shrinking violet, in a generally liberal family and social milieu, Doreen’s views mirrored her ever-present Fox News, keeping things spicy for everyone. Ultimately, she was most proud of her growing family and followed each person’s life’s journey with interest. We are all grateful to her precious David and the community at Miami Jewish Health for brightening her last years and giving her her ninth life.
Graveside services will be held at Temple Beth El Memorial Gardens, 4900 Griffin Rd, Davie FL, at 2pm on September 6th.
