It is with great sadness that the family of Adria Silberman Rasken announces her passing on August 5, 2020. She was the daughter of Morton and Val Silberman; wife of Dr. Robert Rasken; mother of Adam, Andrew and Valerie; mother in law to Lauren, Sara and Tod; grandmother to Jillian, Sienna, Gavin, Jack, Ivy, Cole and Cameron. Adria was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Miami Beach, FL where she raised her two sons and daughter. She was often surrounded by family and loved reflecting on memories from her childhood with her parents. Trained as a social worker, she worked as a fundraiser helping to create Summerbridge Miami, currently known as Breakthrough Miami. She had a love for the arts, most recently on the board of FAN, Funding Arts Network, and loved to go to the theater and spend time with family watching golf and all sports. Sundays, Adria could be found hosting family pool days and dinner and in the summers, at Lake George, reading at the lake, eating Martha’s, or enjoying a day at the race track with her family.
Adria was lucky enough to defy the odds and receive a kidney transplant at the age of 53. She was a fighter, lived life to the fullest, and shared much needed tough love with the many around her. Adria, or better known as “Grammy”, will be missed by all and her life will always be celebrated.
Contributions can be made in her honor to the Funding Arts Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the visual and performing arts programs in Miami-Dade County. The family can be contacted for more information.
