She was a compassionate person who always put the needs of others before her own.
Linda was such an inspiring force among the Dade County School System and taught there for many years, including earning awards such as Dade County Teacher of the Year in 1988, Florida Teacher of the Year in 1989 and was honored to have the Linda Lentin Elementary School named after her in 1999.
Linda will be deeply missed by her loved ones. Her memorial service will be private via invitation. If you choose to make a donation in her honor, you may consider the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, Continuum Care Hospice of Broward County or Teach for America.
You know Linda, anything altruistic would put a beautiful smile on her face and embody her always.
The following poem summed it up for Linda:
She taught me She taught me by Elisabeth P. Watson
Into her classroom I came, books in hand.
Shy, timid, uncertain… I was an empty slate.
She was strong, dedicated, driven.
She taught me and I learned well.
Into my classroom I came, new roll book in hand.
Eager, young, scared… I was untried.
She was kind, focused, wise.
She taught me and I learned well.
Into this sisterhood I came, gold key in hand.
Seasoned, proud, confident… I was honored.
She was colleague, mentor, friend.
She taught me and I learned well.
Into this sacred place I come, white rose in hand.
Saddened, tearful, grateful… I am inspired.
Now a guardian of the faith…she sleeps.
Yet, she continues to teach, and I learn well.
