This is Nachman's cousin Louis from Baltimore. I did not know about Nachman's passing.  I happened to be looking up something about My Aunt Rifka, and of course that led to finding things about my Aunt Etta, and eventually to an article about Nachman.  I am very very sorry to hear this news.  I know we've never been too close as a family, but the few contacts have always been heartfelt and important. I assume you probably do not know that I lost my brother Henry back in Jan of this year. I'm sorry to contact you this way, but I'm not really sure how else to do that. I also assume you may not even see this comment for quite a while.  If and when you do, please, my deepest sympathy, and I would love to hear from you.  My email address is attached. I've attached a picture I scanned a while back of Nachman's father Usher and my Aunt Etta.

We visited Rabbi Bryn's shul shortly after we arrived in Tampa in 1976.  From that day we knew we had a friend.  He was a man who made you feel good just being around him.  I look back on those days at Beth Israel with great fondness.  He was a warm and caring man.  My wife Ricki joins me in sending condolences to Ela, Usher and Helen.

I am very sad to learn about Rabbi Bryn's passing.   It's been many years since I've seen him, but I've thought often about him.  I was Bar Mitzvah'ed in 1965 at Temple Beth El in Patchogue, NY.  For a whole year before, the Rabbi gave me lessons in preparation.  In the last few months before my Bar Mitzvah, my recollection is that the Rabbi worked patiently with me every day after school.  I recall that even when I was not focused or working hard, he was always patient and full of praise.  The day of my Bar Mitzvah he was as proud as anyone of me.  It was the same with all my friends he taught.  The time and warmth he gave I will always remember.   I read more about Rabbi Bryn's life in an obituary and I was amazed at the fullness of his life and his accomplishments, and given that, even more amazed at the humility he presented in his daily life.  He was a wonderful person.

I and my family are deeply saddened by the passing of Rabbi Nathan Bryn, ZTL.  He was a wonderful Rabbi and a dear friend.  May the Omnipresent console you among the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.  Ed Zaslow.
