I worked with Neal and Elaine at Merrill Lynch and have known them for 40 years. Neal was my sports buddy as well, we would always discuss the Dolphin games and yes I do remember the Dan Marino sign  Incident. Neal was  So devoted to his family and would do anything for them. So sorry for his loss. Love you all B.

My deepest condolences to the Slansky family.

I have known Neal since elementary school.  We were in the same grade and both went to Nautilus, Miami Beach High and University of Florida and majored in Accounting.  I just spoke and texted with him a few weeks ago regarding the 50th Reunion, and it was great speaking with him again.  It was with great shock and sorrow that I heard the news.

To this day when I hear comments that  people who grew up on Miami Beach are soft "silver spooners" and when I hear derogatory comments regarding Jewish people not being tough or athletic, I immediately think about Neal, the Slansky/Marino Championship Fight at Royal Castle on 41st Street; and with his sports buddies,  the 1970 Beach High Football Team, for which Neil was middle linebacker as I remember, going 9-0-1; the '70 and '71 State Champion Beach High Baseball Team, for which Neal I believe was a the centerfielder; and, the TEP house in Gainesville which won the Sports Presidents Cup for Fraternities, as I remember, every year that Neal was there.   Especially given the times, the '60's and early '70's and the places, Dade County and Gainesville, the foregoing is important to me personally, as well as a great cultural history lesson.

More importantly, as I have I known Neal for the nearly 60 years, he was a Great Guy, a decent boy and a decent man, fun to talk to,  and a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great friend to those who had the good fortune of befriending him.  Truly a Mensch.  I am very sad to hear of his passing.

Leslie and I were devastated to hear the terrible news yesterday.
Neal was a great guy with an upbeat personality, great smile and hearty laugh.
We remember the good times we spent at Bnai Aviv, events and parties.
Our hearts go out to Elaine and the entire family.

We have never met, but I know who you are and I was shocked to hear of Neal's passing. I grew up on Biscayne Point across from Karen Alterman and am 2 years younger than Neal. We all looked up to him in school because he was a great athlete, a good student and never had an ounce of arrogance about him. I had the chance to talk to him for almost two hours at my best friend's mother's funeral and as usual was always enlightening as we had minimal contact later in life, but Neal was a special person. We don't all have contact with each other these days as we live all over now, but Miami Beach was a family and it affects all of us when we lose part of our group. 

My deepest sympathies goes out to the Slansky family. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers, and that I share your sorrow. Wishing you all comfort and peace during this difficult time.
