Bernard hired me to work with him in the New Student Center at Miami Dade back I the early 90s.  To say that he was  kind, knowledgeable, fair, caring, gentle, savvy, unselfish, classy, trustworthy and  authentic would be a terrible understatement of his character. By far, he was the best boss I’ve ever had and I’ve never experienced a supervisor to demonstrate so much trust and faith in me the way he did. 20 yrs have passed and in my leadership roles I’ve tried to emulate his team building and management style as a servant leader. This man adored his family, sacrificed for the community, cared about every student that passed through MDC Wolfson and was an amazing role model to his team. Bernard, dear friend, you will be sorely missed. My most heartfelt condolences to the family.

Dear Marise, My sincere condolences.  May the Lord comfort you and your family in this great loss.  Truly an inspiring life!

I had the pleasure of working for and with Bernard almost 29 years ago when I became a member of his team in the New Student Center at Miami Dade College.  His focus was always on the student and what could be done to better their lives in society. He was absolutely the best boss I've had.  He was kind, thoughtful and brilliant, not just smart, brilliant. He never took the staff for granted. While he respected us, we respected him. We were productive as a team because we  wanted to excel however, we wanted to ensure his success.  He fought for the things that were right and for the many injustices in society.  Bernard had the ability to make all of us better.

Just a little over a year ago, a group of us got together, had dinner with him and reminisced about the "good old days ." 

I take this opportunity to send my sincere condolences to the family for your loss. Wishing you peace, to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart.

It was an honor to have met Bernard many years ago at Miami Dade College. He was one of those people that brought up the best in others. 
He inspired, mentored, and encouraged everyone on his team. His smile was contagious! He was brilliant but always humble, with a passion for his ideals and respect for all! 
He will be missed, but will live forever in the hearts of those who met him and loved him. 
My thoughts are prayers are with his family! Cherish the memories!

My friend Bernie was a brilliant intellectual with the simplicity and humbleness of an angel.  God bless his soul and may the Lord help all of us deal with this pain.  My deepest condolences to his family. 

I had the pleasure to work with Bernard at Miami Dade College for several years although he left many years ago he left sn impression with me that he was a respectable l oving  and kind human being .  I will always remember him for the way he worked with our students to help them in any way that he could .please accept my condolences and my deepest sympathy to the family he will be missed as we say gone but not forgotten God bless

Bernard remains one of the best men I have ever met. He was my supervisor at Miami Dade College, Wolfson Campus. However, he was so much more! He was a mentor, supporter and defender. He was and remains a role model. He treated everyone with respect and listened. The trait I have tried to recreate was to make the workplace a family. He made all in the New Student Center feel a sense of kinship. Full Time, Part Time ... Student Assistant. This fostered pride and devotion to the department and to him. On a personal level he offered advice and was one visitor my family had when my daughter was born. At our home and even though I was no longer at the College and he had moved to his beloved 🇭🇹. To do "nation building." God bless Bernard and love to his family.

Only three years older than me and twin brother Joseph, we basically grew up with cousin Bernard.
We spent many weekends at his house,  L'école Nationale  République du Guatémala de Pétion-Ville, where his mother Tante Uranie,  was the Directrice. 
He was graduating from John jay High School in Brooklyn , NY when we arrived from 1972 Haiti. We wanted to follow his footsteps but John Jay turned us away because we lived outside the school district.  He always encouraged us to be what we really wanted to be and do what really wanted to do. We grew our hair like his into the biggest Afros and listened to the same music, from Jimmy Hendricks , Sly and the Family Stone to Janis Joplin.
I will miss his smile and Joie de Vivre attitude. His shoes will remain bigger than I can ever fill, a great role model indeed.


Uncle Bernard was a great man. He was always looking for ways to help his fellow countrymen in Haiti.  He will be greatly missed.
