Carima Awad Hansen

Carima Awad Hansen passed away September 19, 2026, at the age of 101. She was born in Miami to immigrant parents, Petter and Nejla Awad, and was the 6th of 8 children now all deceased – Saida (Sunshine), Adma (Emma), Rosemond (Rose), Anisa (Billie), Cecilia, Elias (Louis) and Seif (Joe).

Cremi (how she was known to most) married at the age of 16 to Arthur Hansen. During WWII, while her husband was serving overseas, Cremi lived in Chicago and served her country by building airplane engines for the war. She later returned to South Florida and settled in Hialeah.

Her true passion was teaching preschool. She taught in Marietta, Georgia at Shreiner Terrell Mill School and in Hialeah, Florida at Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church school, Hialeah Hospital employee daycare center and Flamingo Elementary School.

Cremi was a woman of faith and lived a Christian life doing whatever she could for anyone she knew was in need. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family and those she loved and cared about. There was not a child she met that she did not adopt in her heart – the kids she taught, those growing up in the neighborhood and so many others.

She was blessed to have 3 daughters – Adrienne and Patricia preceding her in death and survived by daughter, Marie. She had 8 grandchildren (Tina preceded in death, survived by Tom Buckholts, Arthur Buckholts (Willie), Robert Buckholts, Tom Sandridge, Tracie Onate, Nejla Takacs, and Kai Bicke), many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She loved them all.

Cremi attributed her long life to a cup of black coffee and a spoon of peanut butter every day. She was always the one to greet you with a song and always wanted to dance, Today, she is up in Heaven singing and dancing with all those she has loved and who have passed before her.

Visitation will be held at Caballero Rivero Southern, 15011 West Dixie Highway, North Miami, FL 33181, US, on September 24, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

A Committal Service will take place at Caballero Rivero Southern Memorial Park, 15000 West Dixie Highway, North Miami, FL 33181, US, on September 24, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:20 pm.
