She will be lovingly remembered by her son Pedro Enrique Argota McBean, daughter-in-law Emilia Lopez; grandchildren, Alejandro Argota Perez, Barbara Argota Perez, and Eslades Argota Perez; great granddaughter Indira Lobaina Perez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dora was predeceased by her loving husband Leon “Scotty” Scott; brother, Douglas; sisters Hortensia “Charlie”, Idia Curtis “TinTin”, Lurleen, Nora, and Mavis; and her parents, Suzanne and Daniel.
Born in the town of Banes in the city of Oriente, Cuba, Dora witnessed incredible changes to her world when she migrated to the United States and embarked on a new life. She worked tirelessly while remaining dedicated to her Cuban culture, heritage and relatives. In New York she met and married the love of her life, to who she affectionately called “Scotty”. They would eventually retire to Miami, Florida to spend the rest of their days together. Dora lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed dancing, thrift store shopping, and most recently watching “The Bachelor” and “Shark Tank” reality television shows.
Dora was dedicated and committed to the work of her church, especially in its outreach mission in the Thrift Shop where she served with Elder Louella Grayson. Her service in the Thrift Shop was a demonstration of who she was - she was a tireless worker and a giving soul. After the shop was discontinued due to damage to the building by Hurricane Irene, Dora continued to reach out to provide help for those in need, whether it was a monetary gift, an article of clothing or a dinner, most notably, arroz con pollo. She became known for her caring attitude and her giving spirit.
We will never forget her signature coiffed white hair, dark penciled eyebrows, and perfectly painted fingernails. This remarkable woman will always be adored and admired by her family and friends. May your soul rest in paradise our Dora!
