

Edward Stewart McIntyre, Jr., (80) fondly known as “Sandy” by his family, passed early on Sunday morning, August 25, 2024, after a long decline from dementia. A longtime resident of Pembroke Pines, he is survived by his brothers David, Robert (Lynn Morgan) McIntyre and his sister, Susan (McIntyre) and James Knoch as well as seven nephews and nieces. The son of Edward Stewart McIntyre, Sr. and Jane Greenawalt McIntyre (predeceased) he was born in Miami and graduated from Hialeah High in 1962 where he lettered in Track and Field. He continued his post graduate studies and earned his bachelor and master’s degrees from Florida Atlantic University in the sciences.
He lived an active and productive life as a dedicated full time teacher in Dade County, specializing in the sciences, especially biology and chemistry. He retired from a long career teaching at North Miami and American High School.
An avid conservationist, he remained active in the Everglades Conservation and Gun Club throughout his life, where he spent many volunteer hours in his beloved Everglades, supporting conservation efforts and helping others who appreciated that unique ecosystem. He was most happy when hunting and he loved sharing great stories about those adventures. His memories will be cherished by all who knew him.
