Edwine Lauture Derizier, age 64, of North Miami, received her wings and transitioned peacefully into the gates of heaven on November 15,2023.
Edwine, affectionately known as “Sr Fifi” by her loved ones and friends, was born Marie Emmanuelle Lauture to the late Charles Vilbrun Lauture and Marguerite Lucienne Amadis in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She was one of six siblings, with all of whom she maintained close relationships until God called her home.
Edwine completed her education in Haiti at College St. Pierre (primary education), Constand de Pagnon (secondary education), and Gerald Armand Joseph (final year/philosophy). After moving to the United States, Edwine worked in the healthcare field as a medical assistant for more than two decades until her death.
Edwine met her future husband, Ernst, in the Summer of 1971. Their relationship blossomed, and they were married in 1985. Their union bore two beautiful children, Miriam and Jean Nathan.
Edwine was an exceptional wife, a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and a woman of God. As a wife, she was kind and devoted to her husband and her marriage. As a mother, she gave her children the gifts of sensitivity, patience, compassion, unconditional love, and Christian values. As a woman of faith, she was an active and devoted member of her church and was a staple in the church for years. She taught Sunday school and was a member of multiple ministries.
Edwine was an extraordinary person known for her compassionate nature and resounding strength with a quiet countenance. Her smile was infectious and brightened any room that she walked into. She cared immensely for people and was a faithful servant of God. She was incredibly kind and devoted to her family and church. She made an impact on many lives and served as a mother to many.
During the last year of her life, Edwine was resilient in her battle with stomach cancer and remained optimistic regarding her prognosis. Even in the face of her own adversity, she remained faithful to the Lord and true to her gentle nature: still filled with peace, compassion, sensitivity, and faith. We know that she is free from pain and is now sailing on a journey to shores that we cannot see and is in a place of peace that surpasses all understanding.
She will truly be missed and forever be remembered as the indelible thread that weaves our family tapestry together and the matriarch of our family.
Sr. Fifi is preceded in death by her parents Charles Vilbrun Lauture and Marguerite Lucienne Amadis; beloved siblings Ansgard Paul Lauture, Keder Lauture, Pierre Musset Lauture, and Destin Lauture.
Edwine is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Pastor Ernst Derizier; her beloved daughter and son, Miriam and Jean-Nathan; her loving stepdaughter, Elsie Derisier; and her adoring grandchildren, Nevaéh, Nasir and Nolan Derizier.
