In 1972 he moved to Miami, Florida with his wife Roseline. Together they had four children, Raynold, Moses, Ashley and Lisa. He later remarried Gilene Sylvain and they had one child together, Rachel.
Elisson was a devoted parishioner of Notre Dame D’Haiti Catholic Church for over 40 years. He also became a devout member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, serving as president and volunteered countless hours of service to the church.
Frere Toussaint, as he was affectionately called, was especially known for his work and continued service in Little Haiti. In 1990, he established Toussaint Immigration Consulting Services, located. There, he remained committed to helping thousands of people to achieve their dreams of finding a better life in America on their paths to U.S. citizenship for 30 years.
Toussaint's service was even recognized abroad. In 2010 he was appointed Citizen Diplomat for Sister Cities International, an humanitarian organization that brings aid, social programs and health services to millions of Haitians. He received certificates for working several years with the World Conference of Mayors. Elisson also helped establish the first Fire Administrator office in the country - firemen brought equipment, provided training and CA TF2 911 system and helped to create hundreds of programs throughout Haiti. United Nations Global Ambassador Dr. John Armand called him a gentleman and a beloved son of Ayiti.
Elisson continued to serve his community until he was called home on Friday, July 3rd, in Miami, Florida. He was 75 years old.
Elisson is survived by his children: Raynold Toussaint, Moses Toussaint, Ashley Toussaint, Lisa Toussaint and Rachel Toussaint; siblings: Oscar Toussaint, Etienne Toussaint, Rose Dorcely, Vilbrun Toussaint, Nelson Joseph, Daniel Joseph, Cenerien Joseph, Safor Toussaint, Freda Joseph and Siltane Joseph, grandchildren: Chardia Johnson, Mekka Toussaint and Taheem Toussaint, nieces and nephews: Margarette Dorcely, Helena Toussaint, Linda Abraham, Oscar Toussaint, Dadley Joseph, Henry Dorcely, Sitny Dorcely, Jean-Marie Dorcely and Thompson Abraham.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Seasons Hospice at Miami Jewish Hospital, Notre Dame D’Haiti Catholic Church, The Society of St. Vincent De Paul, Sister Cities International, the Little Haiti Community, extended family and close friends.
Visitation will be held at Caballero Rivera Southern Memorial Park, 15000 West Dixie Highway, North Miami, Florida on Friday, July 10th from 4-9PM.
Funeral service will be held at Notre Dame D’Haiti Catholic Church, 110 NE 62nd Street, Miami, FL 33138 at 2pm.
