Emma welcomed me in the 1980s as a junior analyst in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), as she did a generation of new intelligence analysts, to the wider fellowship and professional development community of IALEIA. Her long-serving dedication and vision was instrumental in establishing the foundation that served to build IALEIA into the global professional association  for law enforcement intelligence analysts it is today. For that, and for being the kind, dedicated and thoughtful person that you were, we are forever enriched!  You will be missed Emma!

As a Retired FDLE agent working in Tampa and Ft. Myers since 1979 I can state that there was only one person you needed to call when you needed any intel out of Miami, that was "Emma Fern". She was a true FDLE treasure!  My thoughts and prayers to all of her family and friends.

I just found out last night that Emma passed away and am so saddened by the news.  I met Emma in March of 1980 when I went to work for FDLE in Miami as an analyst.  We stayed in touch all these years, even after I left in 1984 to become an intelligence analyst with DEA in Philadelphia.  Emma was a legend and an inspiration, staying involved in law enforcement even after retirement, and a wonderful person.  She was a good friend and I'll miss her very much.  May she rest in peace.

Emma was one of first IALEIA members I met. Her passion for professional development and advancement of intelligence analysts inspired me and many others to become involved in IALEIA. Emma's bold leadership as IALEIA's International President help to set the foundation for the organization and profession today. I thank Emma's family for sharing her with us and supporting her work building the first law enforcement intelligence analysts association in the world.

Although our physical paths never met, I "knew" Emma through her reputation as an experienced analyst - a driving force for both the job and the cases. Even after her retirement, those who knew her still spoke of her achievements and knowledge and friendship. My sympathy to her family and fellow members of her IALEIA family.

Emma was a signficant force in the profession of law enforcement analyst and a tireless proponent of analysis.  Without her efforts, the field would not be where it is today.

Although I never met Emma, I knew of her expertise. It is always sad to lose greatness from this world.

I first met Emma around 1982 as an analyst with the FBI in Miami.  She recruited many of us to join IALEIA.  We learned much through Emma and following both our retirements we remained friends and enjoyed many lunches together at the Ark Restaurant.  She was a terrific mentor and a good friend.  I, along with many others, will miss her very much.  May the Lord bless her and keep her until we meet again.

I grew up living next door to Emma and Joe. She was a fine lady and great neighbor. She was a legend with FDLE and she was missed when she retired. May God be with her through her next journey.

You were a good friend and will be missed. I know how much you loved your dog and Mustang. I will think of you often.  God bless you.
