In 1986 after several years of dedicated and loyal service, Papa left Teleco and turn his sight to the United States. He quickly found work at dollar rent a car, a global car rental company, as a bus driver. Applying the same principles of hard work and dedication, It did not take him long to earn the respect of superiors and peers alike, as he always does. And the same ring true at Thrifty and Hertz both car rental companies, where he worked until his final days.
Where ever life takes him, Papa becomes a role model. Somebody that adults admire, youngs want to emulate and children attach to. Papa radiant personality often make people, ask why this guy is always smiling along the way, somehow Papa uncovered or learn something about this magnificent world is that if we find something to smile about, no matter how small it may, we are one step closer to living a good life, a fulfilling life.
After several months of atrocious pain in his left foot, Papa was hospitalized on Dec 31,2017. And that would be the last time he slept in his bedroom. It was a one way to Adventura Hospital, to Villa María and ultimately North Shore where he took his last breath on Wednesday May 16, 2018. As apostle Paul reminds us in Philippians 1:23 as believer of Christ, departing this life to be with Him, “is very much better”.
Papa, people will remember you for a lot of things. But us kids, family, and friends who work with you will always remember you for the respect you give to everyone and how you love people. So today we do not mourn the passing of Joseph Delince St Georges, we came to celebrate your life, the strong and courageous man we all knew, and the one who kept the faith until the very end of his life.
