

Jeanine Lafleur, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2023 at the age of 92. Born on June 18, 1931 in Aux Cayes, Haiti, Jeanine lived a remarkable life that spanned countries and generations. Her father was an agriculturist and her mother sold agricultural goods, this enriched her early life with a love for plants, farming, and growing food. Jeanine spent the early years of her life helping her mother prepare agricultural goods for commerce. This early introduction to farming and growing foods helped to spark her love of cooking, a skill that was most treasured as a homemaker and mother to 8 wonderful children.
In 1993 she migrated to Miami, FL to join one of her daughters, Gemima. There, she spent the next 30 years creating beautiful memories with their family of four to include Gemima’s husband, Gustave and their two daughters, Francesca and Lisa. She cherished the time spent at home after school with her two granddaughters. Jeanine quickly adapted to her new surroundings in Miami, Florida, and her welcoming spirit endeared her to friends and neighbors. She became an integral part of her family, the matriarch known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for God.
Amongst many other hobbies, Jeanine found solace in cultivating vibrant flowers and lush greenery. Her garden was not just a testament to her horticultural skills, but also a symbol of the beauty she saw in life. She says, “Of course I love flowers, my last name is flower.” Friends and family fondly remember the countless hours sharing the fruits of her labor with those she held dear.
Jeanine’s life in the United States was marked by a deep commitment to family. She dedicated herself to creating a nurturing environment for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a devout Christian who loved cruises, going to the beach, and perusing the outdoor shops at Bayside. She is survived by her eight children, 17 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Jeanine’s zest for life and adventurous spirit never waned with age. In her later years, she continued to take care of her family until it was her turn. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a deep appreciation for life's simple joys. Jeanine will be dearly missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
