Joan was born in Brooklyn, New York and spent her early years living in Queens, New York with her mother. When she was 11 years old she moved to South Florida with her mother, Helen. After attending North Miami High School, she pursued courses in a Business School and being good with numbers and finances she pursued work in a bank and later worked for the Miami Dade County Public Schools in the Procurement and Materials Management division where she worked until retirement.
While working, she traveled with some fellow office workers to New Orleans and then later to attend a 50th Wedding Anniversary of her Aunt Helen and Uncle Eddy Kaldrovics in Long Island, New York. While on this trip she got to tour New York City and walk up inside the Statue of Liberty that had just been renovated. On this trip she was also able to tour the major sights in New York City and then visit historic Williamsburg then later on tour most of the tourist sights of Washington DC and Baltimore MD with her cousin Paul. This was quite a journey for a girl from Miami Florida.
Joan was a devoted animal lover and seemed always available when there was a lost or stray dog or cat to adopt. After her retirement she volunteered tirelessly at the North Miami Foundation for Senior Citizens Services under Sandy Kumm locally. Joan also got to know Grace English, who was a volunteer for the Foundation who helped her with her house, and cats and later became friends and helped her with spiritual matters. Another friend Ginny helped Joan greatly through the years.
In 2014 Robert Paul Kaldrovics, Joan’s first cousin, moved to Florida with his wife Anne to help her until her death. Their son Austin enjoyed visiting her for a couple of Christmas holidays.
Joan is survived by three first cousins, Robert Paul Kaldrovics wife Anne, and son Michael Kaldrovics and wife Betsy, their children and grandchildren and Barbara Britt and her children and grandchildren
