

Linette Rogers, 71, of Miami Gardens, Florida departed life on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Salisbury, Maryland on August 8, 1952, the daughter of the late Peter Davis and the late Alveta R. Barkley Davis of Fruitland, Maryland. Linette is the second child of the 17 children of Peter and Alveta Davis: Janis Saunders; Martha Ross; Francine Thompson (Councilman Derrick Thompson); Arlene Davis (deceased); Carol B. Johnson (Anthony); Teresa F. Foster (Michael); Matilda Tull; Peter Davis Jr.(deceased); Gary R. Davis, Sr. (Marcia); Karena P. Jones (Kenneth); Kent A. Davis (Ruby); Bernie I. Davis, Sr. (Renee); Brice A. Davis Sr. (Tonya); Jerel S. Davis, (Melissa); Byron Davis, Sr.(Corie); Rufus I. Davis Sr. (Suzette).
Linette attended schools in Maryland and was a very proud graduate of a Historically Black College and University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Accounting. Linette moved to Miami, Florida in the fall of 1976 where she married the love of her life, Larry G. Rogers, Sr. They raised beautiful and dynamic children: Juanita H. Rogers-Stanford; Harlan G. Roger, Sr; Larry G. Rogers, Jr.; Warren A. Rogers (Gennine) and Stepson Howard D. Rogers. She is the grandmother of Tiara Stanford, Tamya Stanford, Kelynn G. Rogers, Harlan G. Rogers, Jr., Hailee Rogers and great grandson, Zhyon Rogers.
Linette shared her life with her community as a member of Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church and the Presbytery of Tropical Florida in both committee and leadership roles. She served as Moderator of the Women Association, Treasurer, and Elder at Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church. Her service to the Presbytery as a committee woman is notable throughout the Tropical Florida Presbytery, especially her work with the Committee on Ministry.
Linette also served the youth of Miami Gardens as part of the South Florida Council of the Boy Scouts of America. She was a Den Leader for Cub Scout Pack 235 and as scout parent for Boy Scout Troop 235 at Crestview Elementary School. Further serving her community, she was also a soror of Eta Phi Beta Incorporated, Alpha Gamma Chapter, whose motto, “Not for ourselves, but for others” was truly her mantra.
Linette’s work at the City of Miami Beach in the Finance Division and as office manager for the Miami Beach Convention Center for 30 years before retiring in 2019 was filled with the joy of making friends and challenging associates to make good life choices in all things.
She will be truly missed by both family and friends.
A visitation for Linette will be held Friday, February 2, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church, 2961 NW 175th Street, Miami Gardens, FL 33056. A homegoing celebration will occur Friday, February 2, 2024 at 12:00 PM, 2961 NW 175th Street, Miami Gardens, FL 33056. An interment will occur Friday, February 2, 2024 at Caballero Rivero Southern Memorial Park, 15000 W Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, Florida 33181.
