Hey, what’s up family! Thank you for taking time today to recognize what is the ending of life as we knew it; and to celebrate the beginning of my promised everlasting life.

I was born Livingston James Stocker, Jr., on June 7, 1986, in Key West, Florida to two of the most amazing parents a kid could have, Janae Allen and Livingston J. Stocker, Sr., (aka) Winky! Even though my parents did not stay together for the duration of my life, I was so fortunate that God gave me two additional people to continue sharing unmeasured love and attention towards me to make me the man I eventually became.

I was a product of Monroe County Public Schools. I graduated in 2004 from Key West High School, and later enrolled into Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona.

Looking back over my life, I can truly say that I was a blessed man. Blessed to live a life I chose, to travel the world, to laugh, to love and to be loved. Even most of you who are reading this today were a blessing to me too.

If you really knew me, you know that “family” was the most important thing to me. My friends were my extended family, and I was proud to call them family. I had some great life experiences. I worked for the City of Key West in the Department of Public Works and in banking and finance for a local bank, which is where I met many of you. As you know, I enjoyed listening to music (all genres), reading poetry, swimming and meeting new people. Through my experiences, I learned to love, appreciate, and accept people for who they were; without judgment, even if they were different than me. I also enjoyed my friendly debates with friends and family especially Chad! I will never forget those long-drawn-out discussions on the best football and basketball teams. Well, let me remind you again: the Chicago Bulls are THE BEST Basketball team; the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are THE BEST football team, and the University of Florida is THE BEST College to exist – ever! “Go Gators”! Now that we have an understanding, let us move on, lol!

I know this is hard for you, and admittingly, if I had my way, I would not have left you so soon. But my journey here on earth was done, and I had to leave. I want you to know that I am at peace now. Free from all the pain and struggle. My only regret is leaving all of you that I love so much. The good news is my love and the memories we shared will never leave you. Know that I will be watching over you every day…and when you remember me or something we did – just smile!

As you remember me today, remember the good times and talks we had. I hope you will remember my laugh, my infectious smile, and my zest for life.

On June 12, 2021, God decided my work on earth was done and called me to my Heavenly home. Let no tears fall for me, remember, I lived a good life, full of excitement, fun, laughs, and love. My greatest accomplishments were my beautiful children, who I am so very proud of.

To my kids, Zaiden M. Stocker & Kai’Ori E. Stocker, you were my everything! Daddy will love you for all eternity. Continue to grow in love and remember I am your biggest fan, and I will always watch over you!

To my parents, Janae Allen (Gilbert Key) and Livingston Stocker, Sr.(Monica Malott) there are not enough words to express how much I love and appreciate each of you. Thank you for teaching me the concept of “family over everything” and unconditional love. I take comfort in knowing that you will continue extending that love to my children because you did such an amazing job raising me. I love you all! To my grandparents: Gale Rousie & Robert Malott you helped lay the foundation of who I became, and I love you. To my four brothers: Chad Rodriquez, Korey Rodriguez, John Peter Malott, Jr. and Willie Anderson –always remember the good times. Not even death can separate my love for you! To my aunties and uncles: Nichelle S. Allen Mullen, Dominique Murphy Benoit, Dorothy Brown, Elaina Dean, Lula Evans, Marva Major, Joanne Anderson, Joseph Williams, Kyles Murphy, Zachary Brown and John Stocker thank you for your teachings about life and love. I will certainly miss each of you. To my cousins: Man, I love ya’ll so much! There are way too many of you to mention but I have to shout out a few: Robbie Evans, Michael Dean, Theresa Dean, Zakiah Brown, Elliott Bacon, Bryce Mullen, Zorranna Brown, Eliza Murphy, Derek Williams and Varlon Williams – I am so proud to call all of you “family”. Please stay strong, keep pressing forward, and take care of our family.

If I did not call your name, no worries, you knew how special you were and what you meant to me. May God guide each of you on the path to everlasting happiness. Live everyday as if tomorrow didn’t exist. My earthly life may have ended - but my love for you will never end!

Until we meet again. Poppy

Poppy,
What a sweet young man. I am so overwhelmed with sadness. I was at your very first birthday party. A long short time ago. I bought you a night light. Your Mama, Ms. Allen told me you couldn’t sleep without it! I also remembered her riding you on her bicycle all around Key West with you on the back. She would put your little helmet on and you looked sooo handsome! Such a wonderful smile and warm hugs. My heart is truly broken. I will never forget you! (Acts 24:15)
Rest until we meet in Paradise. 💜
Love,
Miss Latoysha

“ I love you cuzzie!” That saying and that smile will always be my favorite memories. Even in your dark times you were a light to the masses. I will forever cherish our childhood memories, the shared Air Force journey and the random life conversations. I hope you left this earth feeling as loved as you’ve made others feel. The reason for having to write this breaks my heart but I believe that you are no longer in pain. Sending prayers to your mom, dad, Zaiden, Kai’Ori and all those impacted by the loss of such a beautiful spirit. Rest in Power, Poppy 🙏🏾♥️

Poppy,

I'll never forget your spirit, your passion for family and basketball, your perseverance and how comforting your smile made people feel. This obituary is a testament to your strength, enduring ability to see the best in life and the value that laughter and positivity can bring, especially in trying times like these. When I saw you last, I wanted to ask so much but I didn't, and to be honest, your smile gave me hope and left me feeling like everything would be as it should. We were both making our way on a regular (hot) Key West day, what seems like yesterday but was probably a month or so ago and I am so blessed to have had that last exchange and memory. Rest easy my friend. And to the family, my most sincere condolences. Please know that if there is anything me or my family may do in your hour of despair or any other time you need, please do not hesitate. Winky, you know I love you and I am so sorry for your loss brother.

Sincerely,

Poppy(Smooth),
You have always been apart of my life, for most of my life. You were the Big Brother I never had. From you taking me along with you to the gym to watch you play basketball, to you working on my game with me, I appreciate every conversation and kind thing you have done for me. My favorite memory is of you showing up for me at my 5th grade graduation when my dad couldn’t make it. Even as we grew older and life took us in separate directions, you always made a point to check on me and the kids and let me know you were always there. You will forever be in my heart, Forever My Bubba ❤️😇
