OBITUARY
Marie Quinn Cardet
August 18, 1917 – February 5, 2013
CARDET, Marie Quinn, died peacefully at home on Feb. 5. She was 95. Marie and Adolfo Cardet moved to South Florida in 1945, where they became active parishioners of the newly formed Corpus Christi Catholic Church and Marie began a lifelong friendship with the Franciscan Sisters. After buying one of the first homes built in North Miami, the Cardets became one of the first families to join St. James Catholic Church. Until her late 80s, Marie taught CCD (religious instruction) classes, served as a Eucharistic minister, was a leader of the Glory to God Charismatic prayer group and member of the Damascus Outreach. Marie loved traveling to Europe and places closer to home, and delighted sharing these adventures with her family. Marie is survived by her children Sarah, Bill, Fred and Lucy; sister Ruth Todd; eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Viewing will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Southern Memorial Funeral Home(305-940-6304). A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Church in Miami Shores. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a charitable deed in Marie's name, or a contribution to Covenant House of Fort Lauderdale or St. Elizabeth Mission Society in Allegany, NY. God has delighted in Marie and called her home. May she be dancing for joy.

Dear MaMa Maria,
I want to Thank You for always Loving Me & My Mother infinitely... When I got the News of your Freedom; I was watching Wayne Dyer speak, as I read of you & listened to him in the background... He began to speak of Mother Teresa & her words "I do it because I see the unfolding of Source" & I felt your sight see the same...
Now you have completely unfolded from the bond of this cocoon life to the infinite beauty & freedom of the butterfly you have always been..! Thank You for seeing Source in me too..! I will always Love you and be Grateful to you for this Lifetime... =) I no longer say R.I.P but L.W.G MaMa Maria is Living With God...

Beginning with hearing God tell you to give Lucy's little guitar to me, to encouraging my songs, to Godmothering my firstborn son Matthew, to praying for a release of the charisms in me, Marie was a true godmother. What priceless treasures she loved to give, from God's vast treasure chest!

Blessed were those whose paths she crossed,
Poorer is Earth for her passing.
Richer is Heaven for her presence,
Rejoice in her life everlasting!

As most people, I can't think of Marie without thinking of her smiling beautiful face- Her sense of humor- Joking, and loving to serve the Lord- Surely, she is smiling peacefully, as she watches over us. May the journey continue...

I can see her rising with joy to meet her other loved ones with her Golden Slippers! She was a mom to me too. She always wanted people to rejoice at her passing, for she is joyous, happy, she is gloriously, peacefully,at home.
Love and prayers to all, Lucy, Sarah, Fred and Billy.

Lucy and family, I share your sorrow at this time, but I also share your joy in knowing that your mom lived a "God-centered life" and she is now with her God. She lived a blessed life surrounded by family and friends that loved her. As she lived; so she died. Sarah has been a blessing to you and to your mom. I pray that she will be rewarded for a job lovingly done. May God give you all the peace that passes all understanding.

Dear Marie, I am so grateful for your life, your love of God and others and especially your sense of humor. You enriched my life with your wisdom, joy and truth. There was nothing fake in you and so you revealed God's transparency to me. I thank God for you. See you soon, my soul-friend. Adele

Oh my! I'm so sorry we didn't see more of each other all these years, living on opposite coasts as we have. But I will always treasure the memory of your visit when Pop was in the nursing home. You managed to match his considerable wit and gift for sarcasm. It must be a Quinn thing. May God comfort your loved ones in their loss. I await the big family reunion yet to be. I will always remember the good times we had with Marie, especially the good time she had when the kids Amanda, Matt and her favorite Corey visited her. She always had a kind word for everyone and a smile for everyone. God now has taken her home and she can now be at peace. She will never be forgotten.
Even though I didn't see her I still thought about her everyday. I still will. May God bless and watch over you and your family, and keep you all in good health. Your mom will be forever in my heart.
