Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.DignityMemorial.com/Caballero-Rivero-Southern for the Couamin familMarie Couamin was born in Galois, Plaine du Nord, Haiti on November 6, 1927 to the late Edmond Evariste and Idalia Desanguste. She was known to her most intimate loved ones as, “Rosie”. She was the 3rd of 8 siblings. Marie obtained her education at the Catholic School of Plaine du Nord.
Following marriage, she relocated to the city of Cap-Haitien. Marie filled many roles during her time in Haiti. These included homemaker, retail merchant, dressmaker, and grandmother. She led a courageous life in Haiti and in time exemplified her role as a True Visionary – in her decision to leave her homeland. In her own words, “Everything was crashing down, there was no hope. If I make it, I will pull one person and from there a chain reaction for the others. If I don’t make it, God be with them”. As a mother she made the ultimate sacrifice by embarking on a perilous and uncertain journey, facing high seas in search of a better life. Her clandestine voyage crashed in the Bahamas where she remained for one year.
In 1971, Marie took another passage which brought her to the United States where she disembarked in Miami. Marie found employment as an Environmental Services worker for the Healthcare Industry, a position which she kept until her retirement. She remained a resident of Miami until her recent passing.
Marie was a peaceful and humble person with a subtle sense of humor. Her hobbies included gardening, spreading apostolic works, and watching soap operas. She devoted her retirement years to her faith and soon adopted another large family – “Groupe la Sainte Famille”. There, for over twenty years, she touched the lives of many, young and aged through her wisdom and strong belief in God.
Marie leaves to cherish her memory: (9) children, (27) grandchildren, (24) great grandchildren. Additionally, Marie leaves a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family. She will be remembered for creating a beautiful -- Legacy of Hope and Unity.
“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
