Moise Gabriel, Sr. is survived by his daughter, Margarette Gabriel and son, Marcus Gabriel along with his granddaughters; Pamela, Kathie, Moniah, Mia; great granddaughters, Zyla, Zaria, Zoey and Kenzy. His brother, Amilcar and sister-in-law Marie with nephews Tonio and Karl and niece Christina.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ghislaine Gabriel and son, Moise Gabriel, Jr.
Moise was born on November 18th, 1937, in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, to parents Civil Gabriel and Inelda St. Juste. While attending Lycee Petion de Port-Au-Prince in Haiti (the school in which he graduated) he pursued his passion as a soccer player. The team he played for, Victory, were fierce contenders who participated (and won) in several championships. Not surprisingly as Moise was their skilled and competitive goalkeeper! Between 1961/62, he moved to Miami, Florida and accepted a position with Eastern Airlines and later on with American Airlines where he worked for over 30 years upon retirement.
Moise Gabriel, Sr. was a family man and a loving father. He married Ghislaine in August of 1965, and the couple had two children together. He was notably respected and regarded as an amazing provider to his family. Taking on multiple opportunities to ensure his family felt secure and comfortable financially along with having access to greater and luxury experiences.
Moise was a socially, active man and was deeply involved as a Mason. Although he did not pursue a professional career in soccer, he maintained his love of the sport by becoming a coach for the Miami Toros. He enjoyed traveling, watching and debating about sports, hosting family and friends… the Gabriel’s annual Super Bowl parties were the highlight for many each year. In his later years he took even more pleasure in the time he spent with his grandchildren. Affectionately doting over their love for him and his in return. He will be missed but always remembered by family and friends for his stern nature although with a heart of gold.
