On Monday, October 12, 2026, Mrs. Pauline May Powell, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by the warmth and countless love of her family. Born in Kingston, Jamaica on April 17, 1939, she was the second of six children born to Allan Oscar and Marie Lorraine Stewart. Pauline was raised in Kingston, where she attended and graduated from the St. Joseph School. This milestone in her life reflected her pride and joy. With loving support from her parents and siblings, Pauline decided to relocate to Miami, Florida on November 1981.
Pauline loved to travel, enjoy Caribbean cuisine, cook and shop on QVC. Pauline discovered early on that her life's calling wasn't measured by walls, but an open door. In December 1975, she united in holy matrimony with Frank O. Powell and from this loving union their sons, Craig and Brian, were born.
Being anchored in her faith, Pauline's life journey reflected a walk of deep commitment to God, her family, and her community. This commitment extended to her being a dedicated caregiver for not only her two children, but caregiver to other children who were blessed to have her nurturing soul.
Her motherhood extended far beyond her front porch. To neighbors' kids and to anyone who felt lost or hungry; she was simply that "MOM" to everyone. Her dining room table was her safe harbor; her advice was honest, fierce, and wrapped in grace. Pauline didn't just keep children; she claimed them, believed them, and loved them into who they were meant to be.
Besides little people, Pauline found joy in the Holiday Season. To her, December was the best time of the year. A season marked by the comforting aroma of a living room filled with the scent of pine trees while colorful lights danced across the walls to her favorite Country music. Pauline would sit in the red chair, with a cold glass of sorrel and revel in the children's excitement of the joyous season.
Pauline is survived by her loving and devoted sons Craig and Brian Powell; her beautiful grandson, Kael, loving nephew Kevin, and forever faithful sister, Hortense. She also leaves to cherish her close-knit extended family and dear friends. Pauline was proceeded in death by her parents, Allan and Marie Stewart, her husband, Frank Powell, sisters, Delia (Shaw) and Phyllis Stewart; her brothers, Carl and Milton Stewart and her lovely daughter-n-law, Camille Powell.
Pauline didn't just mother her own; she mothered the world and left it warmer than she found it.
