Phyllis (Brown Walters) Russell of Miami Shores passed away January 6, 2012. She was a strong and beautiful Kentucky woman who raised four children by herself and always put family first. Phyllis loved Miami and wrote a song called “Miami’s for Me”. She was very creative, had great taste, and always made her surroundings designer beautiful, “Foxy Lady” by Jimi Hendrix, “Hello I love you” by the Doors, “Miles from nowhere” by Cat Stevens”, “Drift away” and others by 60s and 70s musicians were her favorite but she also used to sing old Kentucky ballads from her childhood. She was a very happy person who always had something funny to say that made people feel better like “Don’t worry honey, nothing’s ever going to be alright!”
She had an extremely strong work ethic and struggled most of her life to provide nice things for her family and to pay for her home. Gardenias and frangi pani blossoms were among her favorite flowers. She was the matron of her family and provided a safe haven for those who needed her help.
She worked at Cape Canaveral, Southern Bell and at The Castaways.
She was dearly loved by her brothers Kermit (wife Lora Marie) and Roger, sisters Alene, Sally, Jean, Carol and Greta(deceased); Children Diana(husband Billy), Eddie, Bill(deceased) and Marcus(wife Sherry); grandchildren Nicole, Blasie, Ashley, Ryan and Shane; Great grandchildren David, Devin, Dakota, Dyson and other family members and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
