Official Coffy and Ornelise Gabriel, both dearly remembered.
Born on Tuesday, October 27, 1964, in Jacmel, Haiti, Suzette was the youngest of nine
children in a blended family. Following the passing of her beloved parents, she
migrated from her hometown of Jacmel to the city of Port-au-Prince.
In her relentless pursuit of a brighter future, she embarked on her formal education at
the tender age of 14. In 1985, at the age of 21, she made the courageous decision to
leave her beloved son behind in Haiti as she ventured to the U.S in search of a better
life for them both despite the emotional toll of separation. Fueled by her unwavering
determination, she laid the foundation for a promising future. Soon after her arrival, she
began her journey in the workforce, laboring as a press machine operator at a dry
cleaner for numerous years. After establishing herself in the USA, she joyfully reunited
with her son, marking one of many milestone in her journey towards success.
Determined to carve out better opportunities, she transitioned into entrepreneurship. In
addition to her son, she was blessed with two daughters, born in 1990 and 1998,
whose boundless love and presence brought immeasurable joy to her life. Through
unwavering dedication and prudent financial management, she diligently saved
enabling her to attain the dream of homeownership. Her first home has blossomed into
more than just a dwelling; it's now a sanctuary for countless family and friends,
embodying the warmth and resilience of her life.
In her spare moments, she found joy in gardening and listening to music. Her backyard
became a sanctuary for growing vegetables, a labor of love that nourished both body
and soul. Many weekends were spent playing her favorite heartfelt tunes as she
planted flowers in her garden.
A notable aspect of Zette was her reputation as a fashionista. She radiated style,
meticulously dressing for every occasion, infusing each ensemble with her unique flair.
For her, fashion was more than just clothing; it was a reflection of self-love and
confidence. Her mantra was simple yet powerful: ‘You must always look your best
because you’ll feel your best."
Suzette generous and nurturing nature knew no bounds. She effortlessly supported her
siblings and loved ones without hesitation. She was the comforting shoulder to both
cry and lean on; the brightest light of sunshine to all in their time of need. Suzette’s life
embodied the essence of sacrifice, living every moment to its absolute fullest and in
times putting the joy of her loved ones before her own needs. Her profound act of
selflessness extended not only to her children but to all, leaving an everlasting mark on
our hearts. In her life, nothing mattered more than ensuring her loved ones cherished
their joyful memories and stood by each other. With God's grace, she was able to
accomplish exactly that.
Despite overcoming numerous health challenges, we held onto the hope that she
would be with us for eternity. However, on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, it became
apparent that God had different plans, calling her back to his side, her heavenly home.
She is survived by her three children: Emmanuel Coffy, Elizabeth Latortue, and Ornelise
Simon, who will carry on her legacy of love and cherished memories. Also left to
cherish her memory are her grandchildren: Niyana, Ja’Leah, Alyssa, Skylar, and
Emmanual Jr. Coffy.
As the youngest among her siblings, she is survived by Jean-Louis Coffy, Orphila
Coffy-Fequiere, Victa Coffy, Ossoner Coffy, and Aimon Coffy. She was preceded in
death by Ornelia Daley, Victoria Daley, and Acelina Coffy.
