Terral Lebert Walters, known to family and friends as “Mass Lee,” “Skippy,” and “Nancy,” was born on May 11, 1942, in Crofts Hill, Clarendon, Jamaica, to Charles Augustus Walters, a farmer, and Leonora Agatha McLean, a dressmaker. At Crofts Hill All Age School, he developed a love for cricket and proudly represented
his school and community. He shared a special bond with his grandmother, Susan Walters, whom he called “Auntie Sue,” and lived with her for an extended period. After learning shoemaking, Lebert moved to Kingston in the 1960s in search of greater opportunities. He later became a taxi driver with Yellow Cab and Checker Cab. In Kingston, he met the love of his life, Violet Baxter, known as “Vie.” They married on Christmas Day, December 25, 1983, and together welcomed KerryAnn and Terral Anthony Walters Jr. (Rickey). Lebert often said that meeting Vie was the greatest thing
that ever happened to him. In April 1985, Lebert migrated to Miami, Florida, in search of new opportunities. After briefly working in
construction, he became a self-employed businessman. As Jamaicans traveled to Miami to shop for clothing and shoes to take home, he provided transportation between the airport and shopping areas. Through hard work, dedication, and determination, Lebert built a successful transportation business that served many in
the Jamaican community. Intelligent, hardworking, kindhearted, and generous, Lebert was always ready to lend a helping hand. He
enjoyed meaningful conversations about sports, music, politics, religion, and life, and mentored others seeking a better future in the United States. He had a deep love for Bob Marley’s music. Lebert also enjoyed watching basketball and football, proudly cheering for his favorite teams, the Miami Heat and Miami Dolphins.
Above all, Lebert was a devoted husband and family man. His love for Vie was especially evident during the times when she needed him most. He stood faithfully by her side, caring for her with patience, tenderness, and unwavering devotion. He took great pride in preparing her meals, ensuring her comfort, and attending
to her daily needs. His loving care reflected the deep bond they shared and the promises they made to one another.
