Yliones Paul, affectionately known as Daniel, was born on March 26, 1942, in Latortue Auplaine, Haiti, to Dorelia Gustave and Le Blan Paul. He was the second of seven children. Daniel fathered a son and a daughter in Haiti during the early 1960s before moving to Nassau, Bahamas, in search of a better life. There, he met Saintilia Joseph, and they were married on May 24, 1969. Together, they were blessed with seven children: two sons and five daughters, along with one adopted daughter.
Daniel was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He worked tirelessly throughout his life, initially in farming throughout the 1960s to the 1980s, as well as taking on various side jobs, including cleaning banks at night, to support his family. Known for his strength and determination, he was a man who fiercely protected his loved ones.
In the mid-1980s, Daniel and his family moved to the United States in search of better opportunities. He worked for many years in the hotel and restaurant industries before transitioning to construction, where a job injury ultimately ended his career. Despite his struggles, Daniel remained a dedicated family man, an exceptional cook and baker, and a lover of playing dominoes.
Daniel was a fighter, and his resilience was unparalleled. Twelve years ago, doctors gave him only a few months to live, but he defied the odds and fought through numerous hospital stays, always with the unwavering support of his wife and daughters by his side. On Sunday, February 2, 2025, Daniel was admitted to the hospital, not knowing that he would never return to his physical home. He peacefully passed away on February 4, 2025, and is now resting in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Daniel leaves behind cherished memories for his wife, Saintilia Paul; his children, Anes (deceased), Lunouse, Louiness (Arlene), Maurissa (deceased), Christinna, Gina, Benneth, Germanie (Emmanuel), Geraldine, and Kelissa; his stepchildren, Michele and Ginelia; his brothers, Acedy, Alexius (deceased), Louimeme (deceased), Loderay, and Michel; his sisters, Lisa (deceased), Viyona, and Vesilia; his nineteen grandchildren, Natalia, Elvin, D’Andre, Julius, Juel, Donell, Reginal, Deangelo, Christopher (deceased), Jinell, Alicia, Denzel, Kedren, Jamilyha, Geeanna, Jahnay, Emmanuel Jr., Kyle, Mezziah; his ten great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Jeramie, Natavia, Gabriel, Dion, Olivia, Camila, Deondre, Jayden, and Kiana; and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Daniel’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
