Alexandra Lea Sansbury (Ali), age 49, passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2021 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.  She was born on March 16, 1971 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Ali loved Sunday dinners with her best friend, her mom. She loved spending time with her beloved dog, MJ, and going to the beach. Ali was smart and witty, and she routinely won at trivia against her family and friends.  She loved Jimmy Buffett’s music and pop culture. Ali’s second home was Boston, Massachusetts, where she lived for many years, and she loved everything about that city from Clam Chowder and the Red Sox to the Irish Bars. However, Ali’s favorite place in the world was Walt Disney World, where visits included celebrating New Year’s at Fort Wilderness with her cousins and their families and going “around the world” at Epcot Center.

Ali was a native of Palm Beach County and graduated from Cardinal Newman High School in 1989.  She was voted the wittiest of her graduating class, her many friends would agree she deserved the accolade. Ali earned a degree in visual arts from Florida State University and was working towards her master’s degree in fine arts at The University of Florida.  She was a dedicated art teacher at her Alma Mater, Cardinal Newman High School, and was adored by her students.

Her life was too short, and she will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Ali is survived by her mother Katherine Simcoke and her husband James of North Palm Beach, Florida and her father, Tom Sansbury and his partner Doris Lewis of Naples, Florida, her brothers Charles Sansbury and his wife Catherine of Austin, Texas, James Simcoke and his wife Emily of Needham, Massachusetts, and sister, Susan Alpert and her husband Jay of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

She also leaves her aunts and uncles Gail Leslie, Patricia and Jerry Allsteadt, Jake Varn and John Sansbury, her nephews and nieces, John and William Sansbury, Graham Simcoke and Molly and Mackenzie Alpert, and her cousins, Matthew and Ryder Sansbury, Tara Polen, Craig Varn and Karen Haber, Barbara Leslie and Jeannie Rankin, David, Steven and Christopher Allsteadt, and Nicholas and Elizabeth Colodiy.

There will be a Mass at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 10970 Jack Nicklaus Drive, North Palm Beach, Florida on Friday February 12, 2021 at 1:30 pm.  A Celebration of her Life will be held at the Church following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cardinal Newman Scholarship Fund

I got to know Ali during our first year at Grove Park Elementary School. She was hard working, caring and funny. It breaks my heart to hear that she's gone, but she'll never be forgotten.

Ali,

You will be missed my dear friend.

You already know how instrumental you were in my life and how you gave me the confidence and courage to follow my dreams the day you gave me the Dr. Seuss book “Oh the Places You’ll Go”, thank you a million times over for believing in and helping that young me who needed that vote of confidence!

Most of all thank you for all the laughter, love and joy you allowed me to share in with you, enjoy the next journey, until we meet again 😘🍻

My deepest condolences to Ali’s family.
Ali was a wonderful friend throughout life. The fun years we shared in high school and beyond mean more to me than I can express. I am incredibly fortunate to have gotten to call her a friend.

Remember when you were born and the absolute hurrah that went up in our house of boys, finally a girl in the family. Now we really have someone to tease, but Ali always held her own when we got together. She was always right there in the thick of it. Now Ali walks with God and we will miss so much about her but rest assured she will have a puppy with her in her new heavenly home. Go in peace dear godchild.

So saddened to hear of Ali's passing. We have been spending time in Florida for over 23 years with the Leslie's ( Bege and Jeanne) and many of their family members have become like family to us over the years and Ali was no exception. She was always so great to us and one year was our 'Official" tour guide when we went to Boston for my 40th birthday. What a great weekend and what an awesome host she was. I will cherish the memories of that weekend forever. She has the sharpest sense of humor out of anyone we have ever met. We could be guaranteed some great belly laugh moments when in the presence of Ali! She will be missed! Love Jim and Anne-Marie AKA "The Canadians" as Ali liked to refer to us as xo

I found this while going through my photos. Boston really was her home away from home. ❤️

I called her Alexandra but she never seemed to mind. She was new to our school, as a teacher, this year but she was a neighbor to me in the 300's. She and I communicated often - mostly I tried to be helpful in figuring things out since she was new. She was warm, kind, appreciative and very conscientious. She wanted to do everything the right way. She was a wonderful asset to our family and she will be missed. Even though she was only here a short time - she left an impression on my heart.
