She was born in Memphis, Tennessee as Barbara Pauline Lokey on May 27, 1932. Memphis is where Polly grew up and the birth place of her 4 children,
In 1984 Polly relocated to Palm Beach, FL to be closer to family. Shortly thereafter, Polly met the love of her life William “Bill” Gillespie.” She and Bill were happily married until his passing in 2016. They were a loving couple who were always helping people. Their faith was very strong and a large part of their life together. With Bill by her side, Polly loved socializing and playing games with friends and family. On occasion she and Bill would sneak off to the casino to play the slot machines. Polly cared about and loved everyone. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.
Next to Bill, Polly’s family was her world. Her oldest daughter, Terry Slocum of Palm Beach, FL, passed in 2016 after fighting a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Her oldest son, Rob Shupe resides in Tampa, FL. Polly’s youngest daughter, Brenda Rice lives in Mexico Beach, FL, and her youngest son, Chris Shupe lives with his family in the Raleigh, NC area.
