Bennie Wilber Shipp joined his family in heaven on November 26, 2022. Born on June 9, 1929, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The son of Ernest and Lena Shipp of Rock Springs, Georgia. Brother Sidney, Melvin, Easton and sister Doris Price.
Bennie grew up on a farm and was given the privilege to attend Martha Berry Academy and College in Rome, Georgia. Through this opportunity, he learned varies trades and skills that he utilized throughout his life. In his early 20’s he was drafted and in the United States Army for 2 years. During that time, he met Vivian Iris Partan. After a short courtship, they married on September 1, 1951.They recently celebrated 71 years of marriage. They raised a family of three in Rossville, Georgia. While in Georgia, the family owned and managed a service station in town. In 1967 they moved to Stuart, Florida. His favorite pastime was fishing. He made a career for over 20 plus years as captain of the VICKAR sport fishing boat. Captain Bennie was an avid fisherman and was well known on the Treasure coast. In his retirement Bennie and Vivan moved to Palm Beach Gardens. Their retirement and later years were focused on being a fisher of men.
He and Vivian were one of the founding couples of Christ Fellowship in Palm Beach Gardens. His love and passion for Christ has touched many in his lifetime. He enjoyed several mission trips to Africa and Israel. His passion and calling in life was to tell everyone about this savior, Jesus Christ. He enjoyed ministering to people any way that he could. From helping physically build a church, to helping out with gardening and maintaining the church grounds. His love for Christ was apparent and he took every opportunity he could to share it with everyone he met.
Bennie is survived by his loving wife Vivian, deceased son Michael, Rick, and daughter Karon. Along with granddaughters deceased Nicol, Suzanne, Katie, Taylor, and Lauren. Grandsons Josh and Nick with 6 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of life will be held Tuesday, December 13th at 1pm at Christ Fellowship South Campus at 5312 Northlake Blvd. Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. 33418. The service will be streaming live online at funerals.online.church.
