He spent much of his childhood in Terre Haute, Indiana and moved to West Palm Beach as teenager. After graduating from North Shore High School in West Palm Beach, Brent went on to study sports management at Florida State University. Brent didn’t know a stranger. He had an infectious smile and sense of humor like no other. If you knew Brent, you definitely spent your time with him laughing. He loved sports, especially the Florida State Seminoles, and you could always find him watching Sports Center and Around the Horn. Brent’s passion for golf started as a teenager and only grew as he got older. He dreamt of working in the sports management industry, and got his first opportunity as an intern with Executive Sports. This job led him to Event Links, and eventually IGP Group, who managed the Honda Classic, a PGA Tour event. As the Operations Director of the Honda Classic, Brent was a major contributor to the growth of the Honda Classic, and eventually became a fellow Ambassador to continue his support of the tournament. Even with a successful career that fulfilled him, he would tell you his greatest accomplishment in life was having his son Davis.
Brent is survived by his cherished son, Davison Brent Waugh; his mother, Carol Pickett Handley; his father, Ron Waugh; his ex wife, Penny Waugh; his cousins, Mical Waugh Van de Water and George Waugh; beloved aunt, Clare Knopp; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
