With heavy hearts we announce Mr. Dale Robert Bicknell, age 63, of North Palm Beach, Florida tragically passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from a sudden brain hemorrhage, potentially caused by a genetic predisposition. Inspiring many, Dale was a great, humble man who shared his knowledge, deep faith, and love.
A proud Florida native, Dale was born in West Palm Beach, the son of the late Norman Douglas Bicknell and Betty Jane Bicknell. He attended South Olive Elementary, Conniston Junior High School and John I. Leonard High School Class of ’77 in West Palm Beach. He also attended Staunton Military Academy in Virginia during part of his high school years. A proud Gator, Dale graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a major in Risk Management Class of ’81.
Dale was a successful self-made business man working for several companies in the insurance industry before he started his own company Risk Management Associates, Inc. and Program Management Services, Inc. with his business partner. After selling his business at the age of 40 to Brown and Brown Insurance Company, he invested in various profitable business ventures. His strong work ethic started at a young age from selling mangoes in the neighborhood to delivering the Palm Beach Post as a newspaper boy, to working as a busboy to landscaping jobs.
Married for 33 years to his California love and soulmate, Dale and his wife raised their three beautiful children in North Palm Beach. Dale was very supportive of his children’s endeavors including coaching North Palm Beach Little League Baseball and cheering them on when they played on their Benjamin School baseball, track and volleyball teams.
Dale loved the outdoors especially the ocean. He was a scuba diver, snorkeler, fisherman, avid boater and golfer. His clever sense of humor and jokes lit up the room with smiles.
Survivors include his loving wife Karnella, their children Raquel, Matt and Julie Bicknell; his siblings Marylou Keleher (Mike), Peggy McGuire (Marty), Debbie Snowden (David), Barry Bicknell (Kathy), Jack Bicknell (Claudia), Carl Bates (Janet), David Bates, Bruce Bates (Rosemary) and many other family members and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, 10:30 am – 11:30 am at First Presbyterian Church, 717 Prosperity Farms Road, North Palm Beach. A Celebration of Life will follow from 12 pm to 3 pm at Frigate’s Waterfront Bar & Grill, 400 US-1, North Palm Beach.
