Dom was born on November 7, 1954 to Maria (Barroqueiro) and Domingos E. Miranda Sr. in Waterbury CT. He graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1972 and continued on to Post University for 1 year.
From a young age, Dom owned two restaurants and was able to carry out his passion for cooking. Later, he moved on to work at The Bantam Inn as Head Chef, were he was publicly recognized for his Portuguese Cuisine.
Several years later he moved on from the restaurant business and became a Certified Nurses Assistant. He took much pride in working with people with disabilities and the elderly population. He continued his work in healthcare until his retirement at the age of 62.
When Dom wasn’t working you could find him fishing with his buddy Gary or catching a Spring Training baseball game. He was an avid collector of all sports memorabilia; however, the New York Yankees and Micky Mantle were always at the top of his list. He also enjoyed watching wrestling, soap operas, and crime dramas, and taking evening walks to feed his favorite squirrel, Rocky.
He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was the life of any party, making sure to laugh and tell stories to anyone who would listen.
Dom is survived by his beautiful wife Donna (Bayer) Miranda of 44 years, whom he met on a blind date in 1975. They married in 1977 and spent their days raising their daughter, traveling, and loving one another. He is also survived by his daughter, Carrie Miranda and her husband Robert Wine of Ellington, CT, and his two beautiful granddaughters Kiley Paige and Liyah Rose Wine whom he cherished every day.
He leaves behind sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rita and Jack Repas of Cornwall Bridge, CT, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Christine and Manuel DaSilva of Torrington, CT, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Lisa Bayer of Waterbury, CT.
