Douglas J. Harris, age 69, of Jupiter, Florida passed away on Thursday March 7, 2019. Douglas was born July 1, 1949.

Remembering and honoring a strong, faith-filled, dedicated, and kind husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Two years of battling the effects of a devastating stroke never broke his spirit. Douglas Jean Harris, age 69, of Jupiter, Florida son of the late Doris Harris Desiderio and Dover Jean Harris passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2019. He was the oldest of five sons growing up in Miami, Florida and graduated from North Miami High School before joining the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Japan. Upon being discharged, he attended Florida International University where he received a bachelor's degree in Religious Studies, he was the first in his family to receive a college degree.

He began his career as a service representative at Xerox and later branched out to form his own business, Ink It Over, servicing and repairing copiers to local businesses. Doug was married for more than 37 years to his devoted and loving wife, Margaret Kazlauskas Harris, where together they raised their two amazing daughters Megan Harris of North Palm Beach and Karen Harris of Jupiter along with her two children, his grandchildren, Jaina and Jason Williams.

Doug had a passion to get his family out in nature appreciating, hiking, and visiting the National Parks. Some of the best family memories we spent were on the trails in the Smoky Mountains, the Rockies, Yosemite, the Everglades, Mount Rushmore, the Grand Tetons, Arcadia, and Yellowstone National Parks. Doug’s lifelong dream was to build a log cabin in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. Doug instilled in his family a life-long commitment to volunteer service helping at the food bank with the local church, transporting patients and staff at the VA Hospital, assisting visitors at John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, and ministering to prisoners as a member of the Kairos Community.

Being the oldest of five brothers, Doug is survived by his brothers James, his wife Eliane, John, sister-in-law Lori and her daughters Donna and Leah Harris. He will also be missed by brother-in-law John Kazlauskas, sister-in-law Marianne Hogan, and nephew Brian Hogan. He is predeceased by his brothers Steven, Robert, and sister-in-law Ethel.

“Well done, well done, my good and faithful one. Welcome to the place where you belong. Well done, well done, My beloved son, you have run the race and now you’re home.”

The family would like to invite friends and relatives to attend a memorial on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Home (754 U.S. Highway One, North Palm Beach, FL 33408) from 6pm-8pm.
