Edward H. Adkin, age 81, of Jupiter, Florida, passed away on July 30, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on August 5, 1929 to John and Beatrice Adkin in Rosedale, NY. He graduated from Andrew Jackson H.S. and attended City College of NY before serving as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army in Korea.
He loved music and played drums in a jazz band for many years, while working for the Western Electric Co. in NY. In 1963, he moved his family to Bethel, CT., to begin a career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He retired after 31 years of service with the company and then moved to Jupiter, FL, with his wife.
Edward is survived by his loving wife; Barbara, three children; Gary (Susan), Glenn (Marie) and Gregg (Kim), six grandchildren; Lindsay, David, Ryan, Kendall, Taylor and Bruce.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Ed’s life will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church at a date to be determined.
