Elizabeth Postel Vaughan

April 26, 1940July 28, 2020

Elizabeth “Betsy” Vaughan, 80, went to be with the lord on July 28, 2020.

Betsy is survived by her husband and soul mate of 59 years, Ronald Vaughan; her daughters Vicky Case and Jennifer Vaughan Maanavi; her sister Ann Hunter; and grandchildren, Alec, Presley, Halle and Cameron.

Born and raised in Bronxville, NY, the daughter of Lillian and Charles Jones, Betsy was a lifelong resident of Scarsdale, NY. Betsy and Ron divided their time between Scarsdale and North Palm Beach, FL beginning in 2002.

Betsy had a passion for making people feel loved, cared for, and special. To know Betsy was to join her family and be part of a community of kindness, giving and adventure. Betsy valued family, friends, and genuine personal connections. Above all, she took immense pride in her role as Nana to not only her beloved grandchildren, but also to the children in her extended family. Betsy also found great joy in her successful corporate career where she truly relished the friends she made over a span of 25 years.

Betsy was active in several organizations in Scarsdale and Palm Beach. She was on the Sustainer Board of The Junior League of The Palm Beaches; a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; a committee member at Lost Tree Chapel Library; and a member of The Scarsdale Woman’s Club. Betsy was a student of life with an appetite for learning.

Celebration of her life to be announced.

I'm from Denver, and I'm a good friend of Betsy's nephew Dan and family in Maryland. I had the joy of spending time with Betsy several times when I visited the East Coast. Betsy sparkled. She was a jewel of a woman, endlessly interesting and interested in others. I thoroughly enjoyed her company, and loved keeping up with her whereabouts through Cindy and Dan. She was such a bright, beautiful presence in the world, and I am so very sorry for your loss.

Betsy was my special friend. We played tennis and then our private coffee time in the kitchen setting up events and sharing stories of family and more. She was a friend to everyone. I loved everything about her. Will miss her so much but so glad we bonded. My thoughts and prayers are with her cherished family.

To know Betsy was to love her. We were very blessed to have known her and call her our friend. She took us under her wing when we moved into Paradise Harbour and made sure we felt welcomed and comfortable. God now has a very special Angel.

I am honored to be able to call Betsy my friend. She lit up a room with her outgoing personality, vitality and positive outlook. She was the most active and social person I know - she was always doing something! I loved every moment we spent together in NY and Florida ( I had hoped to see her this summer). I will miss her so much!

Ronnie ,Jennifer and Vickie - my thoughts and prayers are with you. I know what it is to loose someone you love unexpectedly. Time does help but it is important to keep the happy memories in your heart. Betsy will always be with you and your whole family. She will watch over you.
