
Etta B. Barnes at the blessed age of 90 passed peacefully to her heavenly home to be celebrated by her Savior Jesus Christ and family members and friends who preceded her. She was born at home in Elrod, KY, November 13, 1923 to Mary Mae (Smith/Latham) and William H. Testerman and raised in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Her loving husband of 54 years, LCDR Harold B.J. (Barney) Barnes, preceded her in death on September 5, 1999. They spent many years during their Navy career living near the coast in Massachusetts, Washington, New Jersey, Virginia, California and Florida. They moved to North Palm Beach, FL in 1959.
Etta B. was a devoted wife and mother of three sons. She retired from Sears where she worked as a cashier and head cashier in the accounting department. An attentive mom, her sons always arrived well dressed and pressed at the school bus stop and at church. Etta is a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Park where she has had many friends in the church family.
She is survived by her three sons and their families: Jeffery Lynn Barnes (Barbara) of Anchorage, Alaska; Stephen Wayne Barnes (Kathleen) of Yukon, Oklahoma; Stacey Alan Barnes (Susan) of Round Rock, Texas; five grandchildren: Kristi of Oklahoma; Stacy (Chance) Hardaker of Edmond, Oklahoma; Stephen Jr. of Colorado; Allison of Texas and Brian of Texas; and her step sister Christine (Jay) Mize (Ray) Ross of Indianapolis, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, William H. Testerman and Mary Mae Testerman Poynter, and step father J. Craig Poynter, and her sister Willie Benton (Lloyd) Patrick, and step sister Eleanor Woodard, and step brother James Craig Poynter, Jr.
