Evelyn Hummel Barry

Evelyn earned her Bachelor's Degree from St. Anthony's Hospital School of Nursing, and was a registered nurse for many years. She married John Raymond Barry on January 29, 1983. They were happily married for 26 years until his passing.

Evelyn loved all people and animals. She was a very compassionate person, and enjoyed being on the Welcoming Committee for the new residents at Mangrove Bay Retirement & Assisted Living Facility. Two of Evelyn's favorite animals were her bird Rosco and her dog O'Malley. She was also an expert at digging into the ancestry of her family.

Evelyn is survived by her cousins, Mary Curley and Catherine Curley; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Hummel and her children, LeighAnn Johnson, Jennifer Person and William Mccartha; Robert Hummel and his children, Brenda Tevepaugh, Deborah Verhofstadt, Christina Hummel, Donald Slater, and Danielle Geaney; Molora Hummel Schwager and her children, Melissa Schwager, Adam Schwager and Ada Schwager; as well as a collective total of 21 great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Pauline Hummel; her husband, John Raymond Barry and her brother, Harold J. Hummel.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Cremation and Event Center, 754 Us Highway 1, North Palm Beach, FL 33408. A Prayer Service will occur from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Jude Catholic Church, 204 US-1, Tequesta, FL 33469, followed by a committal service at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, 5601 Greenwood Ave, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Evelyn's honor to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, 17th floor, Chicago, IL 60601
