

Born on September 3, 1958, in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, Gus came to the United States with his family as a young child and grew up in New Jersey. He later made Florida his home, where he spent most of his adult life building a successful career, nurturing lifelong friendships, and enjoying the sunshine, beaches, and lifestyle he loved.
Gus earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and became a successful entrepreneur and trusted business consultant. Throughout his career, he helped companies harness innovative technology solutions to improve performance, drive growth, and adapt to an ever-changing world. A visionary thinker, he combined intelligence, creativity, and perseverance to turn ideas into successful ventures and lasting relationships.
Gus was a deeply spiritual man whose optimism inspired those around him. Guided by faith, intuition, and wisdom gained through life's experiences, he approached both triumphs and challenges with resilience, compassion, and gratitude. He possessed a rare ability to offer encouragement and insight to others, often helping them see possibilities where they had seen only obstacles.
Above all else, Gus's greatest joy and proudest role was being Cynthia's husband. For more than 35 years, they shared a partnership marked by enduring love, faith, and devotion. Through life's challenges, Gus stood faithfully by her side, serving not only as her husband but also as her caregiver, protector, and champion. His unwavering dedication reflected the depth of his character and the extraordinary love they shared. Their marriage was a testament to loyalty, compassion, and the power of unconditional love.
A gifted author and natural storyteller, Gus had an extraordinary ability to captivate those around him with his humor, wisdom, and vivid recollections. His quick wit, infectious laugh, and generous spirit brought joy to family gatherings, friendships, and everyday conversations.
Athletic throughout his life, Gus loved sports of every kind, especially soccer. He enjoyed beautiful cars, long days at the beach, and the companionship of his beloved Shar-Pei dogs. He embraced life with enthusiasm and gratitude, finding joy in both grand adventures and simple pleasures.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Vélez; his mother, Maria Vélez; his sister, Maroa Vélez; his brother-in-law, Thomas Vurno; and his nephew and godson, Thomas G. Vurno. He was preceded in death by his father, Gustavo Vélez.
Gus leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, perseverance, and kindness. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving son and brother, loyal friend, gifted storyteller, and a man whose optimism and strength inspired everyone fortunate enough to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit, laughter, wisdom, and love will remain forever in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
