
Widow of Benjamin Blackford, she and Ben retired in 1974 from Greenwich, Connecticut, where he had been president of State National Bank of Connecticut. Jeanne had served as president of the Greenwich Hospital Auxiliary. In addition, she was board member of the Greenwich chapter of the American Red Cross and chairman of the Motor Corp branch. During WW II Jeanne worked at the Pentagon as a secretary in the Quartermaster Corps.
Upon retirement, Jeanne and Ben moved to Lost Tree Village, North Palm Beach, where they co-chaired the fundraising committee for the Lost Tree Chapel. Jeanne started the Lost Tree Ladies Golfing Association and was its chairperson. Both Jeanne and Ben enjoyed golfing, boating, and bridge.
Married in 1944, Jeanne and Ben were a deeply devoted Aunt and Uncle to 13 nieces and nephews, to 20 great-nieces and nephews, and 8 great-great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lost Tree Chapel, Saturday, October 30th, 1pm with a reception to follow at Devonshire at 2:30pm. Jeanne will be buried in Greenwich, CT, along side Ben.
