Joan was the very best mother (mommy), wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother there ever was. She passed in no pain at her home in Lake Worth, Florida surrounded by love, with her daughters Holly Anne Herrera and Heidi Jane Sellman, husband James Bonny Sellman, and daughter-in-law Cindy Currie by her side. She is predeceased by her beloved son Darryl Jason Sellman, her parents Max and Anne Kern, and her brother Lou, as well as countless wonderful friends who she embraced as family and are now in heaven to greet her and possibly have a margarita and a game of scrabble. Joan was a New Yorker through and through and had a wanderlust throughout her life. She and Jim met in Puerto Rico and had their three children in different countries – Darryl in Saigon, Vietnam; Holly in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Heidi in Heidelberg, Germany. She and Jim traveled the world together, with most of the globe explored.
For now, we say goodbye to our beautiful Joan until we meet again, while she is in heaven exploring a new place she often dreamed of, and, of course, hanging out with the New York Yankees.
She is also survived by her much-loved grandchildren Gabriel Andreas and Nicole Joan, her precious great grandson Luca, her son-in-law Rodolfo, and her great sons-in-law Borja and Garrett.
