John grew up in Birmingham, Michigan. He was a bit of a dare devil and loved tinkering with motors and all power sports, such as snowmobiling, motorcycling, and boating.
He moved to Florida after a frost bite accident forced him out of the cold.
He was an avid fisherman and loved to be in his boat on the water. He also was a highly skilled, custom made cabinet maker with an exceptional attention to detail. His work is on display in many upscale homes in Palm Beach County.
This quote sums his life up perfectly:
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a ride! '' ~ Hunter S. Thompson
John was preceded in death by his father, John (Jack) Todd, his mother, Carol Todd, and his brother, Douglas Todd.
He is survived by his siblings, Richard (Kathy) Todd, Sandra (Larry) Cook, and Allan Todd. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Isaac (Alana) Todd, Seth Todd, Tom (Celena) Balewski with their sons Mason and Callahan, and Jeff, Nancy, and Christy Balewski, along with step nephews and nieces.
The family will be planning a memorial service at a later date.
